Anxiety is a feeling of worry, uneasiness, or fear about something that may happen. It can be accompanied by physical symptoms such as headaches, nausea, chest pain, rapid heartbeat, shaking, and trembling. Some people experience anxiety more often than others and some experience it more severely. Anxiety can occur at any time and for different reasons.
Anxiety is a normal part of life that can be experienced in many different ways. It’s something that most people will experience at some point in their lives, and it can take on various forms depending on the individual. Some common symptoms of anxiety include feelings of worry or dread, muscle tension, difficulty concentrating, irritability, fatigue, trouble sleeping, and much more.
Anxiety can be distressing and debilitating for some people, but there are effective ways to manage its symptoms and get relief from the negative thoughts or feelings associated with it.
People who are experiencing anxiety may exhibit some of the following behaviors:
- Restlessness, irritability, and feeling “on edge”
- Difficulty concentrating or sleeping
- Muscle tension and aches in the neck and shoulders.
- Avoiding social situations or other people
- Restlessness or difficulty breathing (hyperventilation)
These symptoms often mimic other medical conditions like a heart attack or other cardiac conditions. For this reason, it is a good idea to see your healthcare provider if you are experiencing any of these symptoms regularly and you cannot identify the cause or trigger for them.
